The Living Legacy Foundation provides educational grants to eligible
employees and their children for two-year and four-year colleges,
and grants to eligible employees for approved training or
certificate programs.
Eligible employees are those who are currently employed at SRC at
least half time and have been employed at SRC for at least six
months.
Requirements and details of applying are given below.
Two-year and Four-year colleges
Requirements
You must be an eligible employee of the Saratoga Retirement
Community, or a son or daughter of an eligible employee who has
completed high school or a GED;
You must have been accepted for a place or are currently
studying (full time or part time) for a degree or English as a
second language (ESL) proficiency in a recognized two-year
college or a recognized four-year university and are a student
in good standing.
Your application needs to be supported by
a statement of needs and personal career goals;
proof of enrollment, usually a copy of the transcript from
your college or university;
the names, email addresses and telephone contact information
of two people not related to you to whom we can refer to support
your application.
The Living Legacy Foundation does not take academic achievement into
account when deciding to make an award.
The grant for a student on a two-year course is currently set at
$4,000/year.
The grant for a student on a four-year college or university
course is currently set at $7,000/year.
Training or Certificate Programs
Requirements
You must be an eligible employee of the Saratoga Retirement
Community;
You must have been accepted in a training or certification
program approved by the Director of the SRC Department for which
the program is relevant and are a student in good standing.
Your application needs to be supported by
a statement of needs and personal career goals;
proof of enrollment and tuition paid from the institution
providing the program;
for CNA, LVN and other health-care related certification
programs, the completed education grant application form
provided by the SRC Healthcare department director; for other
training and certification programs, a letter of approval of the
program and recommendation from the relevant SRC department
director;
the names, email addresses and telephone contact information
of two people not related to you to whom we can refer to support
your application.
The grant for a student in a CNA program is currently set at $800
($400 on enrollment, $400 on completion). The grant for other
certification and training programs depends on the institution
providing the program and the tuition and other fees charged;
usually $4,000 grants are awarded for programs at community colleges
and continuing education divisions at four-year universities.
How to apply
If you wish to apply for support for a degree course or a training
program course, then please fill out and submit the application
form together with accompanying files giving the supporting
information.
There is no deadline for applying, you can apply at any time during
the year.
Grants will normally be paid using PayPal. Please include your

Financial Aid Program for CCRC Residents In Need
The Saratoga Retirement Community Living Legacy Foundation offers
financial aid to residents in need.
Every CCRC resident has the right guaranteed by California law to
manage their own finances and pay their bills in the order they
choose. If, after paying their non Saratoga Retirement Community
(SRC) bills, they cannot pay their monthly SRC bills, they are
entitled to a subsidy from SRC/Odd Fellows Home of California up to
and including the entire SRC bill. This subsidy is not charity but a
benefit included with the residency at a 501(c)(3) retirement home.
if you are a SRC CCRC resident who is receiving the full subsidy,
then you can apply to the Living Legacy Foundation for aid that can
be used to contribute towards a necessary expense. Note that the
Living Legacy Foundation has only limited funds available for this
