Our students: how your gift has made a difference

Many of our students have told us about the difference that the grant has made. Here are testimonials from some of the students and their parents that our donors have supported through their generous gifts.

I am so happy and grateful to receive the grant scholarship award from the SRC Living Legacy Foundation for my children Adam and Katy. Because of Covid, we have both kids in college at the same time and things are a little tight. These grants are very easy to apply for. As soon as Adam and Katy were enrolled in classes, a check came through the mail.

Thanks so much for the generosity of the residents of SRC for supporting SRC employees and employees' kids to pursue their educational goals.

This Thank You is from Dawn Byron, who works in Assisted Living Marketing.

This was one of the best days of our lives. Thank you so much for your generous assistance!

This thank you is from a onetime lead receptionist in Assisted Living. Her daughter earned her bachelor's degree at UC Berkeley and her masters at Cal Poly, San Louis Obispo, in 2017. She received Living Legacy Foundation grants in 2016 and 2017.

Without the grant, my transition into post-collegiate life would have been that much more difficult.

I was a recipient of the 2019 Saratoga Retirement Community Education Grant. At the time, I was a senior at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The grant helped me pay for my last quarter’s tuition fees, graduation fees, and housing. I appreciate the committee for selecting me for the grant and I know many other students will need this grant now more than ever.

The extra support allowed me to concentrate more on my studies and have a successful beginning to my senior year.

I am a Public Health Student as San Jose State University. Having to deal with working part time and being a full time student can add a great amount of pressure, but receiving this educational grant from the Living Legacy Foundation not only helped my financially, it enabled me to have the time I needed to do my best work in school and I am very grateful.

The grants from Saratoga Retirement Community Living Legacy Fund have eased the burden. Thank you so much.

Through our generous donors, we have been able to award this student four grants, contributing significantly to her being able to stay in San Jose and complete her BS degree in Public Relations at San Jose State University. She graduated in Fall 2019.
In her own words: “I went to CSU Pomona my first year, hoping to make it on my own.  It was financially impossible, so I moved back to the Bay area to live with my father and siblings. Even with that assistance, meeting the needs of tuition, books and other college necessities proved difficult.”
She is VP of the PR association, PRSSA, on campus. This summer she has an internship at a Health Care PR agency in San Francisco. Advocating for diversity in the entertainment world is her vision for her career path-- it is a journey.
In the past educational grants have also beheren awarded to  brother.  Her father works in the Health Center at SRC.

Thank you so much for continuously supporting students in achieving a higher education! My family and I are truly grateful!

Your grant came when I most needed it.

I am a language major. I could not continue my program without your grant…many thanks.

Tuition and books have gotten too much for me and my kids in college. Thank you.

Today I received the grant for which I am very grateful. More power to you and the rest of Odd Fellows. po (Thank you in Tagalog).

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for the support you have given my son. Thank you for motivating us and inspiring us to dream and attain our goal.
