We hold events
to thank our donors from time to time. The first program in
2024 was on May 3 and featured a presentation by Michael
Kirst, Professor Emeritus at the Stanford School of
Education, who discussed “Improving K-12 Education: Challenges
and New Strategies ”. Here is a recording
of Prof Kirst's presentation.
The closing event was at the Koi Pond on June 24th June
featuring remarks by previous grantees and comments from some
donors. Here is a
recording of this event.
We held two programs during the 2023 campaign. The first
program was on May 18th and featured a excellent and
insightful presentation by SRC resident Hans Weiler, whose
topic was “Higher Education in a Changing World: Universities
in the U.S. and Abroad”. Here is a link to the video recording
of the presentation:
Our second event took place at the SRC Koi Pond in late June
with wine and munchies, featuring remarks by various of our
grantees on how the Living Legacy grants are helping their
education and career development. This was a very interesting
and enjoyable event.
In 2022 we heard presentations on
"Today’s Challenges in College Admissions" from Mike Flynn,
Engenius Learning Centers
and
"Today’s Challenges in College Admissions, the
College/University Perspective" from Mike Devlin, Admissions
Director at Stanford University
Our final
2021 event was a Celebration Reception on June 17th,
during which we heard from some of the Scholarship
Recipients.
The speaker at our final 2020 event
(December 15th) was Janet Childs, the founder of Bill
Wilson Center’s Center for Living with Dying. Janet gave
us a powerful message with practical tips on being resilient,
no matter the circumstances.
